Living at the Haquira Project
Haquira is a greenfields development. With little to no existing infrastructure to build on the likelihood is the site will remain more a remote project rather than become a fully-fledged town, with employees returning to their families off-site. It is already a high-tech camp and the standards of facilities for employees will be sustained as the site grows.
Specific plans for the facilities on-site are being determined. The site is being developed for construction by 2017 by working towards a set of milestones and regulatory permits. As we get closer to 2017, recreational activities will be factored in to the plans for the site, many of which will be built around appreciation and enjoyment of the beautiful natural environment.
The company provides educational skills for those wishing to improve their English or Spanish.
Accommodation for expatriates joining the Haquira team is likely to be in Arequipa. It is a very attractive town with a rich history and very able to provide high standards of housing, as well as schooling for children. Arequipa is also known for its excellent traditional cuisine.
Peru is a very easy country to access from almost anywhere in the world, with a high number of direct flights from Europe and North America, and manageable connections from Africa. Travelling from New Zealand and Australia is much more challenging because of the time differences and the significant periods of travel involved.
